Role overview

Accountabilities

• Develop repeatable system diagnostics and health checks to identify anomalies, investigate causes, and resolve vulnerabilities.
• Standardize and document diagnostic frameworks, cross-train the team, and safeguard automated processing and reporting integrity.
• Automate financial data collection, analysis, and reporting to improve operational efficiency and data reliability.
• Partner across business and technical teams to deliver solutions for accounting and financial reporting requirements.
• Investigate subledger-to-GL balance inconsistencies, analyze transaction derivation logic, and recommend updates and preventative controls.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 4 or more years in financial systems or data engineering.
• Strong understanding of GL concepts, subledger-to-GL reconciliations, and financial reporting standards is highly preferred.
• CPA designation or candidate status is an asset.

Technical skills

• Knowledge of core banking platforms, GL/subledgers including SAP FRDP, FPSL, and S/4HANA Finance, enterprise data warehouses, and integration patterns.
• Expert-level SQL and experience querying, tuning, and analyzing high-volume financial databases.
• Financial data modeling and automation using BigQuery, GCP, Python, Java, SQL, or Apps Script.
• Experience with data mining, curation, cleansing, pattern recognition, financial diagnostics, and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to design testing frameworks, automated validation scripts, production controls, and data lineage practices.
• Ability to translate technical and business concepts, synthesize data insights, work autonomously, and support peer development.

Work arrangement

• The position has a hybrid arrangement, with both remote and onsite work; onsite time depends on accountabilities and performance objectives.
