Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Fiber Optic Splicing Technician role based in Doha, Qatar.

The Fiber Optic Splicing Technician will be responsible for splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables for new installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting network and construction drawings, preparing cables, performing fusion splicing, and conducting OTDR and power meter tests to verify signal quality.

The role involves troubleshooting fiber faults, performing repairs, labeling and documenting fiber routes, and ensuring all work complies with safety standards and project specifications.

The technician will also collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other field teams to coordinate site activities, support project delivery timelines, and maintain accurate job reports.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical experience working with fiber optic and related cables, including installation, splicing, and termination.
  • Hands-on skills in cabling and structured cabling for telecommunications and data networks.
  • Basic understanding of electricity and safe work practices around electrical and low-voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and fiber-specific tools (e.g., fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDR, power meters).
  • Previous experience in fiber optic installation, maintenance, or telecom/network infrastructure is preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, cable schedules, and network layouts.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to company and industry standards.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in field teams and under supervision.
  • Willingness to work in outdoor and construction site environments and to work flexible hours when required.
  • Technical diploma or certification in telecommunications, electrical, or a related field is an advantage.
