FCL Operations Specialist | Container Logistics Coordinator

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Arrange bookings and confirm container availability, equipment types, vessel schedules, sailing dates, and cut-off times.
• Coordinate container pickup, loading, transport, port delivery, dispatch, and delivery appointments.
• Monitor shipment milestones and communicate shipment updates, schedule changes, and potential delays.
• Verify cargo details, container suitability, loading instructions, container and seal numbers, quantities, weights, and shipment information.
• Coordinate cargo readiness, stuffing schedules, loading progress, and gate-in deadlines with suppliers, warehouses, and customers.
• Prepare and verify shipping documents and coordinate customs declarations and clearance with brokers.
• Track vessel departures, arrival estimates, transshipments, container charges, free time, empty returns, and container releases.
• Investigate delays, equipment shortages, missed cut-offs, booking discrepancies, disruptions, cargo discrepancies, and delivery claims.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and coordinate import/export operations, port activity, and final-mile delivery.
• Review freight quotations and logistics costs, prepare performance reports, and identify cost, utilization, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Shipping, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in FCL operations, container logistics, freight forwarding, shipping coordination, or import/export operations.
• Strong understanding of FCL shipping procedures, container transportation, container types, and shipment milestones.
• Knowledge of shipping documents, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
• Ability to coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, trucking providers, warehouses, and customs brokers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office productivity tools.
• Transport management systems, freight forwarding software, container tracking platforms, or ERP familiarity is advantageous.
• Cross-border or international sea freight experience is preferred; container safety and cargo-handling knowledge is beneficial.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, time management, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments, meet strict deadlines, respond to schedule changes, and maintain accurate records.
