Role overview

Multy is hiring an Extrusion Process Technician to support recycling extrusion operations at its North York facility.

The position operates advanced recycling machinery and helps optimize process efficiency, material quality, and safe production.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up, start, operate, monitor, and safely shut down NGR recycling extrusion lines and Genox shredder systems under standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and tune cutter-compactor speed, screw speed, melt temperature zones, melt pressure, vacuum levels, and pelletizer settings.
  • Inspect pellet sizing, moisture, melt consistency, color, and contamination; record quality data and correct off-spec runs.
  • Troubleshoot polymer bridging, melt-flow issues, screen blockages, and pelletizer jams; adjust tooling, clean die plates, and change screens.
  • Perform daily maintenance and coordinate scheduled repairs, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance with the industrial maintenance team.
  • Stage, blend, and feed scrap, regrind, and additives; manage silo cleaning, changeovers, equipment emptying, and material-use tracking.
  • Follow safety standards, PPE requirements, and LOTO protocols; maintain an organized, hazard-free workstation using 5S.

Qualifications

  • At least two to three years of hands-on extrusion or plastic-recycling line setup, operation, and troubleshooting in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of polymer processing, melt filtration, resin behavior, and pelletizing mechanics.
  • Experience with measurement tools and adjusting hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal equipment parameters.
  • Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, reliability, and clear communication with shift supervisors, maintenance mechanics, and quality personnel.
  • A technical diploma or vocational certificate in plastics processing, industrial or mechanical maintenance, process operations, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience is valued.
  • Experience with NGR, Erema, or similar extrusion lines and industrial shredders or granulators is an asset.

Work environment and schedule

  • The position is 100% on-site at the 400 Fenmar manufacturing plant in North York.
  • The environment includes industrial machinery, heat, noise, dust, and moving mechanical parts; PPE is required and provided.
  • The role requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and safely moving raw materials and tooling weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Shift work may include rotating, day, afternoon, or night schedules based on plant operations.

Benefits and development

  • Benefits include extended health, dental, vision, and medical coverage subject to standard eligibility.
  • The company offers a retirement savings program with employer matching opportunities, paid vacation, and predictable scheduling.
  • Technical training, cross-skilling across production lines, and internal career progression are available.
  • The role contributes to sustainable manufacturing and landfill-diversion initiatives.

The company has more than 30 years of material science, design, and manufacturing experience.
