Role overview
ETL Developer role focused on data engineering, ETL development and data warehousing.
Requires 7+ years of relevant experience and deep production IBM InfoSphere DataStage expertise.
Core technical qualifications
- Hands-on DataStage Designer, Director and Administrator experience, including parallel jobs, sequences and parameter management.
- Strong SQL, dimensional modeling, warehouse design, SCD implementation and CDC experience.
- Practical experience with Medallion and Lambda architectures, relational/MPP platforms, SQL tuning and ETL integration tools.
- Experience with workflow orchestration, messaging/streaming, big-data platforms, distributed query engines and UNIX/Linux shell scripting.
- Experience with version control and ETL release processes; familiarity with lake table formats, governance, lineage, data quality, containers and AI development tools.
Additional qualifications
- DataStage certification or equivalent is a nice to have.
- Spark/PySpark, data vault, BI/semantic layers, MDM/reference data, and cloud platform experience are nice to have.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and deploy DataStage jobs and sequences for batch and incremental loads.
- Translate business/reporting needs into dimensional models, ETL/ELT designs, mappings and transformation rules.
- Build and maintain Medallion layers and operate batch, speed and serving layers.
- Assess upstream changes, tune jobs and queries, and resolve failures, skew, contention and SLA breaches.
- Implement reconciliation, audit and quality controls with alerting and runbooks.
- Support releases and change management, verify deployments, document designs and lineage, and mentor junior developers.
