Escrow Accountant

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and reconcile escrow accounts, ensuring accurate recording of all deposits, withdrawals, and fund transfers
• Monitor escrow transactions to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and release conditions
• Maintain complete and accurate escrow ledgers and supporting documentation
• Prepare periodic escrow account statements and financial reports for clients and management
• Coordinate with legal, compliance, and operations teams to verify approvals and transaction validity
• Perform regular bank reconciliations for escrow accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Ensure escrow funds are securely managed and maintained in accordance with regulatory and internal control standards
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to escrow accounts
• Assist in internal and external audits by providing required escrow documentation and reports
• Identify opportunities to improve escrow accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
• Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all client funds and financial information

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Proven experience in escrow accounting, trust accounting, or similar fiduciary financial roles
• Strong understanding of escrow processes, fund management, and compliance requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion and integrity
• Good communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders

Preferred Skills

• Experience in real estate, legal, banking, or financial services environments
• Knowledge of IFRS and regulatory frameworks related to client fund management
• Familiarity with escrow or trust accounting systems
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA are an advantage
