Environmental & Social Officer

About This Role

Estithmar Holding is seeking a highly qualified Environmental & Social (E&S) Officer to lead and oversee environmental and social risk management across our portfolio of projects in Qatar and internationally. The role will ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards, while embedding sustainability and ESG principles into our operations.

1. Developing ESMS of The Group;
2. Coordinating the implementation of Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) in line with project’s lenders’ requirements
3. Lead the development of Management Information System and database for E&S information in the Company as a part of overall Company data management system development and coordinating E&S reporting to company’s senior management and lenders on a periodic basis.
4. E&S Manager will coordinate the E&S, OHS and labor requirements between the Group and its contractors to ensure that the E&S issues related to project are managed in compliance with lenders’ requirements and E&S commitments are integrated into Group strategies and decision making at Group and Group company levels.
5. Coordinating, inspecting and managing ESIA processes (including implementation of relevant action plans and monitoring programs) as well as supporting actions related to new projects and mandatory reporting to the national authorities, Group’s shareholders and lenders.
6. E&S Manager will lead the establishment of organizational structures and responsibilities for ESMS implementation and she/he will ensure that different subsidiaries and contractors have human resources and capacities to efficiently implement the ESMS.
7. Developing and overseeing the functioning of internal and external project grievance mechanisms in line with lenders’ requirements.
8. Reviewing and updating institutional HSSE policies and being in charge of conducting risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measure, actively seek and correct the gaps between good safety performance and great safety performance.
9. Coordinating with the project operators to ensure compliance with E&S requirements of lenders’ during operations of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for implementing the decisions of the Company to ensure project’s compliance with requirements of the lenders.
2. Responsible for monitoring, auditing project operations and reporting to company management and lenders on actions taken to address any E&S non-compliance with the ESAP and lenders’ requirements.

Job Requirements:

1. Minimum 5 years working experience in a similar position and function in a multinational company.

2. Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, Safety Sciences, Social Sciences or the like.

3. Good command of English skills

4. Good analytical, reporting, project management & organizing skills

5. Experience in the field of ESG in the construction and/or services sector, including labor and working conditions and Occupational Health and Safety in line with international standards.

6. Leadership in dealing with related Health, Safety, Social & Environment matters.

7. Ability to travel to project sites (Iraq).
