Environmental Services Assistant

Your Role at St John of God Bendigo Hospital

• You will perform housekeeping duties within the unit, or the wider hospital as required and ensure that the environment and surfaces are free of microbes and not a source of infection to patients and caregivers.
• Applications will be considered for positions as they become available over the next six months.
• The Position
• Performs housekeeping duties throughout the hospital, including ward cleaning, bed making and disposal of waste items.
• Assists nursing staff with transfers of patients belongings to different areas of the hospital when requested.
• Directed assistance with lifting and patient transportation.
• Acts as a courier when requested.
• Assists with safe and tidy storage of supplies within the unit.
• Cost effective use of stock supplies and equipment.
• Escorts patients to discharge office when requested.
• Reports any maintenance / supply needs as necessary.
• You will have an understanding of occupational safety and health practices, infection control and housekeeping protocols, whilst maintaining a high level of cleaning skills.
• To succeed you will basic knowledge of and experience with chemical usage, cleaning equipment and OH&S requirements. You will demonstrate communication skills, relate well with other people and demonstrate initiative, motivation & confidence.
