Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Environmental Officer role based in Doha.
The Environmental Officer will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of environmental management practices across construction and interior fit-out projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site inspections, identifying potential environmental risks, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and company policies.
The role involves preparing and maintaining environmental reports, checklists, and documentation, as well as assisting in developing and updating environmental management plans and procedures.
The Environmental Officer will also coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to promote sustainable practices, support environmental audits, and deliver awareness sessions or toolbox talks on environmental topics.
In addition, the role will monitor waste management, resource consumption, pollution prevention measures, and recommend corrective actions where needed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of environmental management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 14001), including environmental risk assessment, impact mitigation, and compliance monitoring.
- Experience in construction or related industries, with practical understanding of site activities, waste management practices, and pollution prevention controls.
- Strong skills in report writing, documentation, and data analysis to track environmental performance indicators and prepare regulatory or internal reports.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines in Qatar or the broader GCC region.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and authorities, and to conduct training or awareness sessions.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and capacity to recommend and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field; relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
- Proficiency with basic office and project management software; familiarity with environmental monitoring tools or databases is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site full-time in Doha, conduct regular field inspections, and adapt to changing project priorities and timelines.
