Environmental Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Conduct environmental assessments, audits, inspections, and compliance evaluations across project sites and operations.
• Develop waste management, pollution prevention, monitoring, and sustainability programs.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, client requirements, ADNOC standards, and company HSE procedures.
• Prepare environmental reports, studies, impact assessments, and technical documentation.
• Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plans and monitor performance against targets.
• Lead environmental awareness, training, toolbox talks, and campaigns.
• Investigate incidents, determine causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
• Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage waste, emissions, discharges, and other environmental aspects of EPC project work.

Experience

• Minimum 4–6 years of professional experience in any industry.
• At least 3 years managing and implementing environmental aspects in projects, operations, or production within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or EPC sectors.
• ADNOC project experience is advantageous.
• UAE environmental regulations and client-specific requirements are preferred.

Education and certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate.
• ISO 14001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification.
• Additional HSE certifications are advantageous.

Skills and competencies

• Understanding of environmental issues, risks, and best practices in Oil & Gas and EPC operations.
• Knowledge of HSE management systems and environmental legislation.
• Ability to develop and implement Environmental Management Plans.
• Experience conducting monitoring, audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
• Ability to investigate incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Ability to deliver environmental training and awareness sessions.
• Knowledge of waste management, pollution prevention, sustainability, and environmental protection.
• Familiarity with ADNOC HSE requirements, Codes of Practice, and environmental compliance expectations.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; proficient spoken and written English.
