With a complex manufacturing environment and a strong focus on quality, safety, and sustainability, this site offers genuine scope to influence how EHS is delivered and embedded across the business.
The Opportunity
This is more than a compliance role.
As EHS Manager, you will lead, develop, and embed best‑in‑class Environmental, Health & Safety practices across the site.
You will work closely with site leadership, operations, and external bodies to ensure the highest standards of safety and environmental performance, while coaching and developing a dedicated EHS team.
This is a high‑impact leadership role with strong visibility to senior management, where you will drive safety culture, influence decision‑making, and play a key part in continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive the company’s EHS strategy, aligning it with business goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Own site‑wide EHS compliance, including audits, inspections, safety programmes, and reporting.
- Maintain and enhance the Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001 requirements.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the organisation through a proactive, data‑driven risk management approach.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing EHS team, fostering a collaborative, solutions‑focused culture.
- Oversee occupational health programmes, promoting employee wellbeing and proactive health initiatives.
- Manage emergency response planning, ensuring readiness through regular drills, training, and scenario testing.
- Act as the key point of contact for regulatory bodies, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Drive incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventative actions.
- Develop and roll out EHS training and communication programmes across all levels of the business.
- Ensure compliance with chemical safety, dangerous goods, and hazardous substance regulations.
- Oversee contractor safety, ensuring all third parties adhere to site standards and procedures.
- Support sustainability and ESG initiatives and contribute to related reporting and targets.
- Provide clear, concise EHS performance reporting and insights to senior leadership.
Key Skills and Experience
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in Environmental, Health & Safety roles, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a regulated setting such as pharmaceutical, medical device, or GMP manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to build, develop, and influence teams and stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, compliance frameworks, and risk management methodologies.
- Experience with chemical safety and industrial safety systems.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
- Comfortable operating both strategically and hands‑on, with a visible presence on the shop floor.
Qualifications
- Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Recognised Occupational Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent).
- Additional EHS or environmental certifications are an advantage.
- What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits package (details can be shared on application).
- High‑impact leadership role with strong visibility to senior site and global leadership.
- Opportunity to shape and strengthen safety culture in a growing, complex manufacturing environment.
- Long‑term career development in a globally connected pharmaceutical organisation.
