Entry Level Software Engineer

Role overview

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Engineering, Science, or Math.
• Secret clearance must be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire; selected applicants undergo a government security investigation and must meet classified-access eligibility requirements.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Required technical skills

• JavaScript and PostgreSQL for frontend and relational database development; TypeScript for strongly typed JavaScript development.
• Spring Boot for Java backend services and Go or Java for backend microservices.
• RESTful API design and implementation; Docker and containerized deployment workflows.
• Agile software development practices, including Scrum or Kanban.

Nice to have

• GitOps such as FluxCD; message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or OpenTelemetry; CI/CD pipeline experience.
• Kubernetes or other container orchestration experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain NOSIS program software; contribute to full-stack development across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams and participate in code reviews and sprint planning.
• Support system integration, REST API design, containerized deployments, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.

Workplace

• Position is fully on-site at the Port Orchard, Washington office.

Compensation

• Estimated combined salary range is $80,000 to $95,000 per year; actual pay may vary by experience, location, and other factors.
