The role

We are looking for an experienced seller currently working in U.S. SLED cybersecurity, with established relationships with agency security and technology teams. You will own new business across state agencies, local governments, K–12 districts, and higher education. Bring a repeatable sales process you have successfully used to generate pipeline and close public-sector business, and adapt it to Threatcop’s products and market. You will own the full sales cycle and revenue outcome, working with marketing, channel, and technical teams.

Location: Remote, United States | Territory: U.S. national Travel: Agency meetings, partner visits, and relevant public-sector events

What you will do

  • Build and execute a SLED territory plan using sales methods you have successfully applied in your current or previous roles. Explain how you select accounts, generate opportunities, qualify buyers, and progress deals, supported by examples and results.
  • Use your existing relationships with agency security and technology teams to secure discovery meetings and understand buyer priorities. Develop additional relationships across the buying committee and turn access into qualified opportunities.
  • Choose the right direct or partner sales approach for each account. Work with resellers, VARs, MSPs, and MSSPs where they improve buyer access or procurement execution; build joint account plans with clear ownership and next steps.
  • Create a pipeline through prospecting and account development methods you have demonstrated successfully. Work with marketing and research to test and refine those methods for Threatcop, using meeting quality, conversion rates, and pipeline progression to assess results.
  • Own discovery, qualification, demonstrations, evaluations, proposals, negotiation, and close. Apply a disciplined process to establish the buyer’s need, decision criteria, budget, stakeholders, and timeline, and work with technical teams to demonstrate value.
  • Navigate public-sector procurement using your practical experience with RFPs, bids, budgets, purchasing thresholds, cooperative and state contract vehicles, and education buying committees. Confirm a viable purchasing route and coordinate internal and partner support to advance the deal.
  • Build a documented sales playbook around the approaches that produce results. Maintain accurate CRM records and weekly forecasts, review wins and losses, improve deal execution, meet agreed quota, and coordinate the handoff to implementation and customer success.

Required

Currently employed in a customer-facing SLED cybersecurity sales or account role at a cybersecurity vendor, VAR, reseller, MSP, or MSSP, actively working with U.S. public-sector customers.

5+ years of B2B enterprise sales experience, including 3+ years selling cybersecurity to U.S. state, local, or education customers.

An active network of relationships with SLED CISOs, CIOs, IT directors, security leaders, and technology teams. You should already work directly with these stakeholders and have a record of turning those relationships into qualified opportunities and closed business.

A record of meeting or exceeding quota and personally closing public-sector deals. Be ready to explain deal size, sales cycle, procurement route, your role, and the contribution of partners without disclosing confidential customer information.

A proven, repeatable process for generating and closing SLED cybersecurity business. Be able to walk through successful deals from account selection and first engagement through qualification, procurement, and close, showing the methods you used and the results achieved.

Hands-on experience with SLED RFPs, cooperative purchasing, state contracts, and reseller-led transactions, plus active relationships with partner account teams serving your agency customers.

Ability to build and execute account plans using buyer relationships, market knowledge, and relevant account intelligence. Demonstrated judgment in choosing direct or partner routes and adapting your approach to different agencies and buying processes.

Strong discovery, executive communication, and negotiation skills; working knowledge of cybersecurity and security awareness; and disciplined CRM use, qualification, and forecasting.

Ability to use your existing market knowledge and professional network to build a territory, working independently and with research, marketing, channel, product, and technical colleagues. Respect customer confidentiality and existing contractual obligations.

Preferred

Experience selling security awareness, phishing simulation, human risk management, or email security, particularly competitive wins against incumbent platforms.

An established higher-education or K–12 network and experience working with SLED-focused VARs, MSPs, or MSSPs.

Experience using account intelligence, CRM, and sales engagement tools to support an established sales process and improve conversion.
