Leads the design engineering team and ensures projects meet schedules agreed with Head Office or clients.

Design and project delivery
- Monitor worldwide engineering projects and report progress to the Engineering Director.
- Prepare dimensional, installation, and complex drawings; revise drawings to reflect design changes and customer requirements.
- Review plans, specifications, and customer documents; coordinate with sales managers, engineering colleagues, and suppliers on installation drawing requirements.
- Create 3D models and prototypes, produce detailed drawings, support tender proposals, and prepare product compliance documents.
- Translate research and design concepts into technical plans and prototypes using CAD and CAE software, including Creo and Fusion 360.
- Analyze design proposals and product-development issues, implement feasible solutions, and present or critique alternatives at design reviews.
- Run product simulations, provide customer design feedback, and repeat testing and analysis until specifications are met.
- Prepare cost proposals and support cost reduction while maintaining design, quality, and performance standards.
Team leadership and quality
- Assess junior engineers’ development needs, recommend training or coaching, and provide on-the-job training.
- Maintain accurate design notes, calculations, drawings, BOMs, design parameters, performance guarantees, and other records.
- Track design changes and control BOMs, CAD models, and engineering drawings, ensuring accuracy, currency, and approval.
- Conduct technical reviews to verify deliverables meet project and specification requirements; support process improvement and provide technical guidance.
- Ensure team members understand and comply with company policies and maintain project confidentiality.
Qualifications and experience
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- Substantial design engineering experience and advanced proficiency in 3D CAD and CAE software.
- Proven project-management capability and previous experience leading or mentoring an engineering team.
- A diploma is preferred.

Deliver projects to agreed schedules and quality standards; maintain accurate engineering documentation and Bills of Materials.
Complete design reviews and approvals promptly, reduce avoidable design revisions, and develop junior engineers’ technical capability.
