The Engineering Director leads engineering excellence, technical operations, and delivery of engineering solutions.
The department is Engineering Strategy & Operations.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute engineering strategies aligned with growth and long-term business objectives.
- Oversee engineering operations, technical projects, and resource planning.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and establish performance expectations and development goals.
- Drive technical innovation, process optimization, and effective engineering methodologies.
- Set engineering standards, quality benchmarks, and operational procedures.
- Align technical priorities with senior leadership and cross-functional departments.
- Manage budgets, timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry developments for innovation opportunities.
- Monitor project performance, technical quality, productivity, and delivery milestones.
- Mentor engineering managers and technical leaders; foster accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and regulations.
- Present performance updates, project outcomes, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Candidate requirements
- Strong technical foundation and understanding of engineering operations and project delivery.
- Leadership, strategic planning, decision-making, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex engineering initiatives.
- Experience with project management, budget oversight, and resource optimization.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to translate business objectives into actionable engineering strategies.
- Familiarity with industry standards, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance is advantageous.
