Ensure that Safety by Design principles, risk elimination, and behavioural safety expectations are consistently applied across all engineering activities. • Stakeholder Leadership & Client Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with clients, supply chain partners, framework contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of engineering objectives and delivery priorities. Serve as the senior point of contact for engineering and design matters, influencing key decisions and facilitating effective collaboration across organisational boundaries. Provide timely escalation of critical issues, risks, and opportunities while driving resolution through effective governance, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Resource & Capability Management
  • Provide strategic leadership for engineering resource planning across all delivery programmes and asset portfolios, ensuring the optimal deployment of internal teams and external partners. Work collaboratively within the organisational matrix to balance workload, meet programme commitments, and maintain resilience across the engineering function. Drive workforce planning, succession management, and capability development strategies to ensure the organisation has the skills, capacity, and expertise required to meet future business demands.
  • Engineering Delivery & Process Excellence
  • Maintain overall accountability for the successful delivery of engineering and design outputs across all asset types and delivery streams. Ensure engineering processes, standards, and governance frameworks are consistently applied, delivering predictable, high-quality, and compliant outcomes. Champion innovation and the adoption of new technologies that improve design effectiveness, asset performance, and delivery outcomes. Take full responsibility for all design delivery processes for all asset types. This includes scheduling, execution, and completion of these activities (such as defining ITP and H&S file requirements, incorporating environmental and third-party obligations and risk elimination into designs, signing certificates), their timescales and quality, while leading on process improvements and efficiencies to deliver more effectively on site.
  • People Leadership & Organisational Development
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering organisation, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure clear objectives, performance expectations, and development opportunities are established across the team. Drive employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and retention strategies to build a sustainable and future-ready engineering capability.
  • Financial & Commercial Management:
  • Hold accountability for the engineering delivery budget and provide strategic oversight of programme financial performance. Monitor expenditure, resource utilisation, productivity, and commercial outcomes to ensure delivery remains within agreed financial parameters. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, enhance value, and optimise investment decisions while balancing operational, customer, and business objectives. Drive corrective actions where required and support the achievement of wider business performance targets.
