Role overview

Deliver assigned equipment engineering projects across the Ports Cluster, from technical specification and procurement through installation, commissioning, and operational handover.

Projects include acquisition of port equipment, upgrades, retrofits, and life-extension programs, with safe delivery to schedule, budget, quality, and reliability requirements.

Project delivery and coordination

  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, industry standards, internal policies, risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Prepare scopes, specifications, performance requirements, cost estimates, and CAPEX inputs; assess lifecycle cost, availability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Prepare tender documents, evaluate technical bids, and support contract negotiations.
  • Maintain schedules, budgets, risk registers, progress reports, and KPIs; escalate deviations to the Senior Manager.
  • Coordinate OEMs, contractors, and consultants and review engineering drawings, design documents, and technical submittals.
  • Coordinate and witness FAT, SAT, inspections, and commissioning; close punch-list items before final acceptance.
  • Arrange structured handover, including as-built records, O&M manuals, spare-parts lists, warranties, and operator and technician training.
  • Register assets in MAXIMO and coordinate traffic registration and insurance for equipment delivered and commissioned.
  • Monitor equipment during warranty and manage supplier defect notifications and warranty claims.
  • Capture lessons learned, update reliability and maintainability requirements, and support technicians and Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Provide technical data for equipment investment planning and fleet renewal, including equipment selection, capacity needs, and technology trends.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of equipment engineering, maintenance, or project experience, including equipment projects.
  • Hands-on project experience in specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning in ports, terminals, logistics, or heavy industry.
  • Container-handling equipment exposure, including STS cranes, RTG/RMG, straddle carriers, or reach stackers, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in project tools such as MS Project or Primavera and Microsoft Office for reporting and presentations.
  • Knowledge of quality and safety management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
  • Project management training or certification such as CAPM or PMP is a plus.

Key working relationships

Work with HSE, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement and Contracts, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Asset Management.

Coordinate externally with OEMs, contractors, and consultants.
