Position Summary

Firmware Development

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for instrument control systems using microcontrollers, processors, and peripheral interfaces.
• Own firmware modules and features through implementation, testing, and documentation.
• Develop and optimize C/C++ code for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Implement and support communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and Ethernet as applicable.

Sustaining Engineering and Lifecycle Support

• Execute bug fixes, feature updates, and firmware enhancements.
• Perform root cause analysis of field and production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Support firmware validation, verification, and release processes.

Value Engineering and Integration

• Contribute to firmware-driven efficiencies, cost optimization initiatives, and hardware-software trade-offs.
• Evaluate alternative components and architectures with cross-functional teams.
• Improve system performance and resource utilization.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems teams on integration and debugging.

Collaboration and Technical Contribution

• Contribute to requirements definition, interface development, and test planning.
• Participate in design and code reviews with data-driven technical input.
• Work with R&D teams in Finland, the United States, and Singapore on knowledge transfer and product support.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, service, and product management teams to troubleshoot issues and execute product priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills for embedded systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers, real-time systems, and hardware-software integration.
• Strong debugging, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with RTOS, device drivers, and low-level hardware interfaces.
• Experience with life sciences or analytical instrumentation.
• Familiarity with firmware development tools, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, USB, or Ethernet communication protocols.
• Exposure to regulated product development environments.
