The Employee Relations Advisor provides consistent HR guidance to managers and supports BAM’s people agenda across a multisite operational environment.

The role is custodian of the central employee relations case tool and uses accurate records to support insight and decision-making.

Employee relations and case management

  • Coach and advise managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, probation, redundancy consultation, TUPE and investigation matters.
  • Manage complex employee relations cases end to end and provide guidance aligned with employment law and BAM policies.
  • Support project- and site-related conduct, access, confidentiality, data protection, social media and safety-related compliance matters.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive matters and work with Compliance on serious conduct concerns.
  • Support consultation and workforce-change activity with unions and employee representatives.

Advisory service and collaboration

  • Provide pragmatic guidance to operational leaders, considering shift patterns, site logistics, workforce mobilisation and operational pressures.
  • Coach managers to address concerns early, including conduct, performance, absence, conflict and welfare issues.
  • Collaborate with HRBPs, Compliance, Operations and other teams to support consistent practices and effective handovers.
  • Improve ER processes, governance, escalation routes and repeatable ways of working.

Data and governance

  • Maintain accurate advice, case notes, decisions and outcomes in the central ER tool.
  • Use case data to identify themes, hotspot areas and opportunities for proactive managerial support.
  • Produce people insights and reporting, support audits and documentation, and identify workforce and operational risks.
  • Handle data in line with GDPR.

Requirements

  • Experience in employee relations case management within complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • Experience managing complex disciplinary, grievance and investigation cases through to conclusion.
  • Confidence coaching, influencing and constructively challenging managers at all levels.
