Job purpose

Maintain, repair, install, and support building-services ELV assets, temporary event infrastructure, and advanced audio-visual equipment.

Systems and diagnostics

  • Work with battery systems, access control, camera-controlled lighting, UPS, and specialized control systems.
  • Diagnose ELV, network, RS232/485, and Modbus faults; test functions and sensor signals and use a laptop for real-time fault diagnosis and signal mapping.

Live events and AV

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate staging audio systems, high-resolution LED walls, projection mapping, media servers, and lighting consoles.
  • Deploy temporary low-voltage infrastructure, including fiber patches, Cat6 cabling, high-density Wi-Fi access points, and dedicated event VLANs.
  • Provide first-line on-site ELV response and immediate live-show troubleshooting to prevent signal drops and equipment downtime.

Power and maintenance

  • Maintain electrical lighting and power systems; change and test batteries and maintain wet-cell battery systems.
  • Replace fittings and power sockets like-for-like, including temporary event distribution boxes, and operate or set to work VFDs.

Technical skills

  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, manuals, line diagrams, and AV signal-flow charts.
  • Hands-on proficiency with digital/analog audio mixers, video switchers such as Barco, Blackmagic, or Analog Way, LED processors such as NovaStar, and media players.
  • Understand network switch configuration, IP addressing, and bandwidth management for live events.
  • Lift 25 kg for loading, unloading, and deploying event/AV equipment.
  • Read, write, and speak English; use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and specialized AV/network diagnostic software.

Experience and credentials

  • At least 5 years of commercial building-services hard-maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in live events, exhibitions, or AV rental.
  • Recognized diploma applicable to electrical building-services systems or electronic engineering, and a completed electrical or electronics apprenticeship.
  • IPAF license for boom/scissor lift operations is required.
  • CTS or specific network/AV certifications, such as Cisco CCNA or Dante Audio, are preferred but not mandatory.

Teamwork and compliance

  • Work independently and manage vendor technical teams during event build-ups.
  • Follow company procedures, health and safety rules, COSHH controls, PPE requirements, electrical safe-working procedures, and venue/rigging protocols.

Schedule

  • Workdays vary with event calendars; the role requires flexibility for irregular hours, long shifts, nights, and weekends.

Pay

  • AED 2,000–3,000 per month.

Work location

  • Work is in person.
