to join our client's

which is currently in UAE and will later move to Brazil.
Job Overview
The Electronics & Instrument Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all electronic, control, and instrumentation systems onboard a jack-up drilling rig.
This role ensures safe, reliable, and continuous drilling operations by maintaining critical control systems and equipment.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Maintain and repair electronic control systems, PLCs, and instrumentation equipment.
- Troubleshoot faults in drilling control systems, power management, and automation systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
Calibration & Testing
- Perform routine calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments.
- Conduct loop checks and function testing of control systems.
- Maintain calibration records and certificates.
Control Systems & Automation
- Work with PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems (e.g., drilling control systems, BOP control systems).
- Assist in software diagnostics and system upgrades.
- Monitor system performance and optimize reliability.
Electrical & Safety Systems
- Support maintenance of power distribution and electrical instrumentation interfaces.
- Maintain fire & gas detection systems and emergency shutdown (ESD) systems.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous area (Ex) requirements.
Drilling Equipment Support
- Maintain instrumentation on: Top drive systems, Mud pumps, Draw works, BOP (Blowout Preventer) control systems.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain logs, reports, and maintenance records.
- Follow company procedures and industry standards (API, IEC, etc.).
- Participate in audits and safety drills.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electronics or Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering.
- **Experience of 3+ years on offshore jack-up rigs or drilling units.**
- Familiarity with major OEM systems (e.g., drilling control systems, PLC brands).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, Instrument calibration tools, Hazardous area equipment.
- Ability to read P&IDs, loop diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.
