Position overview
Electrical Technician role focused on installation and testing for airport equipment, MRO hangar, and infrastructure projects.
The work requires site experience and compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and international standards.
Installation and commissioning
- Review MEP electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, ELV, and earthing.
- Install, test, and commission electrical and mechanical systems, including transformers of at least 1000 kVA, MDBs, SMDBs, AHUs, chillers, and large control panels.
- Lay, pull, gland, dress, and terminate LV and HV power and control cables, including power cables of 70 sq.mm and above.
- Install cable trays, trunking, conduits, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, and civil teams for integrated project delivery.
Testing, safety, and maintenance
- Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and installation layouts.
- Diagnose and rectify faults during installation and commissioning; perform preventive and corrective maintenance as directed.
- Ensure systems operate safely and efficiently and meet project specifications and applicable standards.
Education and experience
- Diploma, ITI, or technical certification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology required.
- At least 5 years of experience in power plant, power generation, substation, industrial, or large infrastructure projects required.
- Experience installing transformers of at least 1000 kVA, MDBs, SMDBs, MCCs, HV/LV switchgear, large control panels, generators, and auxiliary systems required.
- Experience handling, glanding, and terminating power cables of 70 sq.mm and above required.
Technical skills
- Knowledge of LV/MV power distribution, lighting controls, ELV systems, fire alarm, CCTV, data, access control, earthing, and lightning protection required.
- Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and layout drawings required.
- Knowledge of electrical testing instruments, troubleshooting, fault-finding, and electrical safety standards required.
Preferred profile
- Airport equipment, MRO hangar, or other infrastructure project experience is preferred.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors is preferred; physical fitness to handle installation tools, equipment, and heavy cables is preferred.
- UAE/GCC experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with power plant construction and commissioning activities is preferred.
