Electrical & Optical Engineering Intern

Duties & Responsibilities:

Viavi Solutions Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Electrical & Optical Engineering Intern to contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced optical and electrical systems. This internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic R&D environment, supporting critical projects across various product lines. Job Responsibilities

Assist in the design, simulation, and analysis of electrical circuits and optical components.

Conduct laboratory experiments, collect data, and perform preliminary analysis on prototypes and existing systems.

Support the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical and optical modules and sub-assemblies.

Contribute to the development and improvement of test procedures and fixtures.

Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on project progress.

Document experimental results, procedures, and findings in a clear and concise manner.

Collaborate with senior engineers on various projects, learning from their expertise.

Research and evaluate new technologies, components, and methodologies relevant to optical and electrical engineering.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Strong foundational understanding of electrical circuit theory, electromagnetism, and optics.

Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, optical spectrum analyzers, and power meters.

Experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, Zemax, COMSOL) is a plus.

Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data acquisition and analysis are desirable.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
