Electrical Engineer (Testing & Commissioning)

About This Role

The Electrical Engineer (Testing & Commissioning) will be responsible for executing and supervising testing and commissioning activities for high-voltage substations (220kV / 132kV). The role ensures all electrical systems, protection schemes, and equipment are tested, validated, and commissioned as per project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning of electrical systems in 220kV / 132kV substations.
• Conduct pre-commissioning checks, inspections, and functional testing of equipment.
• Test and validate protection systems, control panels, relays, and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during testing and commissioning stages.
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients for smooth execution.
• Review and verify drawings, schematics, and method statements before execution.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and authority regulations.
• Witness and document testing activities and prepare commissioning reports.
• Support energization activities and final handover of the project.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and site protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in testing and commissioning of HV substations.
• Strong experience in 220kV / 132kV substation projects.
• Hands-on experience with protection relays, control systems, and switchgear.
• Familiarity with TRANSCO, ADDC, DEWA, or similar authority standards.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and protection schemes.
• Strong problem-solving and technical skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in UAE utility projects.
• Knowledge of international standards and safety regulations.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
