Role Overview

Qualifications and Experience

• Candidates need 8–15 years of experience in steel fabrication, heavy engineering, or manufacturing.
• A B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required, while diploma candidates with exceptional experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards is required.

Machinery and Equipment Maintenance

• Maintain and troubleshoot PTW machines, CNC plasma cutting machines, beam processing machines, and fabrication equipment.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance and implement corrective actions for recurring failures.
• Maintain EOT cranes, hoists, gearboxes, motors, brakes, and control panels.
• Maintain MIG, MAG, SAW, ARC, and TIG welding machines and troubleshoot their electrical and electronic faults.

Electrical and Utilities Maintenance

• Handle HT/LT electrical systems and maintain transformers, PCC panels, MCC panels, APFC panels, VFDs, and distribution boards.
• Ensure proper earthing and electrical safety compliance and troubleshoot electrical breakdowns and power-related issues.
• Maintain air compressors, DG sets, pumps, lighting systems, and water distribution systems.
• Monitor utility consumption and identify energy-saving opportunities.

Planning and Spare Parts

• Develop annual, monthly, and weekly maintenance schedules and maintain equipment histories and maintenance logs.
• Implement TPM and predictive maintenance practices.
• Maintain critical spare inventories, set minimum stock levels, and coordinate with procurement for timely sourcing.

Safety and Team Management

• Coordinate statutory inspections and certifications and monitor crane safety systems and maintenance schedules.
• Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments and implement Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures.
• Lead maintenance technicians, electricians, and fitters, allocate manpower during shutdowns and breakdowns, and train operators on machine care.

Required Technical Skills

• Required skills include CNC plasma cutting machines, PTW machines, EOT cranes, welding machines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes and motors, and industrial electrical panels.
• Required skills also include VFD and PLC troubleshooting, air compressors, DG sets, transformer maintenance, and preventive and breakdown maintenance.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Experience in the structural steel fabrication industry is preferred.
• The candidate should be able to independently handle a 1,000–1,200 MT/month fabrication plant.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, leadership, and documentation skills are desired.
• The role may require attending emergency breakdowns beyond working hours when needed.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay is ₹35,000–₹60,000 per month.
• Benefits include cell phone reimbursement, food, health insurance, paid sick time, and Provident Fund.

Workplace

• Work location is in person at the Gummidipoondi plant.
