EHS Officer supporting construction projects and coordinating health, safety, and environmental practices.
Site EHS duties
- Prepare EHS plans, emergency response plans, risk assessments, and project documentation.
- Attend client and project-team EHS meetings; report EHS issues and performance to headquarters and project leadership.
- Conduct daily site inspections, identify high-risk areas, and conduct job EHS analyses for high-risk activities.
- Facilitate safe work permits and verify that engineers or supervisors obtain permits from clients or main contractors.
- Provide EHS induction and training; ensure weekly toolbox talks are delivered.
- Check PPE use and the condition of ladders, scaffolding, and equipment before use.
- Monitor worker health, hygiene, welfare, water, rest areas, lighting, ventilation, and housekeeping.
- Coordinate EHS management system implementation and improvement, procedures, internal audits, external audits, and third-party equipment inspections.
- Conduct monthly project risk management audits and quarterly system audits.
- Prepare emergency preparedness plans and conduct emergency drills.
- Coordinate occupational health and welfare measures; prepare EHS contract conditions for subcontractors.
- Stop unsafe work; investigate incidents with engineers, communicate findings, and provide first aid or seek medical assistance as needed.
Role requirements
- Coordinate EHS practices and management systems for construction projects.
- Manage EHS documentation, hazard identification, risk assessment, inspections, work permits, training, audits, emergency preparedness, and incident response.
- Apply practices aligned with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards.
