Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as a team to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written directions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to EL students with regular classes outside of the core language assistance program through collaboration with the content-are teachers
  • Support students both individually and in groups as directed by the EL Coordinator and regular classroom teachers
  • Assist in fostering understanding and respect for a variety of cultural backgrounds
  • Observe classroom teacher's instruction and then supplement support for EL students in the classroom
  • Assist with pupil behavior under the direction of the certified teacher
  • Meet regularly with the EL Coordinator for training to ensure consistent teaching practices throughout the EL program
  • Demonstrate the ability to work harmoniously with all persons in the school and community
  • Participate in meetings as required
  • Promote a positive and professional image of the district at all times
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and guidelines of Fairfield Community Schools
  • Perform duties as assigned by the EL Coordinator and building principal
  • Support from the EL Education Assistant is in addition to ELD services provided by the licensed EL Coordinator/Teacher
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal and/or supervisor

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Have at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Complete and pass an Expanded Criminal Background and CPS Check

Compensation

  • Competitive pay based upon experience
  • This position is a grant funded position

Contracted days

180 school days plus any required classified staff workdays per school year

Hours

37.5 hours per week

Reports to: Building Principal and/or Building Supervisor and the EL Coordinator
