Mission and objectives

The RCO ensures the coordination of all organizations of the United Nations dealing with operational activities for development in and with the UAE, regardless of each agency's presence in the country.

Context

The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in the UAE supports the coordination of the UN system in the country and serves as the secretariat for the UN Country Team.

In 2026, the UAE is co-hosting the UN Water Conference alongside Senegal, a landmark global event on sustainable water management and the implementation of SDG 6.

In the lead-up to the Conference, the RCO is producing a Knowledge Series to demystify the Conference process, explain its themes, and engage a broad audience through accessible, concise video content.

The volunteer will play a central role in bringing these sessions to life for public audiences.

Task description

The Online Volunteer will support the production of "Pathways to UN Water 2026: A UN in UAE Knowledge Series" — a set of eight short, high-quality recorded sessions designed to raise awareness and build understanding of the 2026 UN Water Conference process among stakeholders in the UAE and globally. The volunteer will be responsible for editing raw video contributions submitted by speakers across the seven thematic sessions, which cover the official themes of the UN Water Conference as well as a general introductory episode. Raw footage will consist of a mix of talking-head recordings and slide-based presentations. For each episode, the volunteer will also produce a short social media teaser for distribution across the UN in UAE's platforms. Specific tasks include: Editing and assembling raw footage into polished, publication-ready videos Developing or applying branded intro/outro sequences consistent with UN in UAE visual identity Incorporating motion graphics, lower thirds, and on-screen text elements as needed Adding background music and ensuring appropriate audio levels throughout Producing accurate subtitles/captions for accessibility and wider reach Cutting short-form teaser clips (approx. 30–60 seconds) optimised for social media from each episode's footage Coordinating with the RCO communications focal point on review cycles and final approvals Preparing final files for publication on the UN in UAE YouTube channel

Assignment requirements

Required Experience

Demonstrated experience in video editing, ideally for digital/social media or knowledge-sharing purposes Proficiency in video editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent) Experience working with mixed-format footage (webcam recordings and slide presentations) Ability to apply or develop branded visual templates Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple short productions simultaneously Interest in sustainable development, water, or UN affairs an asset Strong communication skills for remote coordination with the RCO team

English, Level: Fluent, Required
