Experience

  • Previous echocardiographic experience in a pediatric setting preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Requires job knowledge acquired through a high school education plus two years of advanced education in echocardiography. - Requires registration as a Pediatric ECHO Tech within 2 years of date of hire, if not prior to hire. - Analytical skills required to perform basic diagnostic echocardiograph studies, which demonstrate underlying cardiac pathology to cardiologists who interpret results. These skills will be expected to progress within 2 years of hire to include identification of all congenital heart disease anatomy. Attention to detail is essential in order to avoid danger to patients. - Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with physicians, families, patients and students. Ability to elicit cooperation form children in order to complete studies is desired. - Ability to push heavy (300 - 400 pounds) equipment through the hospital. Echo machine is on wheels to support easier movement. Licenses and Certifications: - BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required - + one of the following: - N/A - ARDMS-Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - RCS-Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International Patient Care Responsibility - Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.
