Position Summary
The American University in the Emirates (AUE) is seeking a motivated and technology-oriented
E-Learning Officer
to support the planning, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of the University's e-learning environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with faculty members, students, academic departments, and the Information Technology team to ensure the effective utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other educational technologies.
The role will support online, blended, and technology-enhanced learning initiatives while promoting best practices in instructional technology and digital learning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in e-learning, instructional technology, LMS administration, or educational technology support.
- Experience in higher education is preferred.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, or similar platforms.
Skills / Training / Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Familiarity with online learning principles and instructional technologies.
- Experience with educational software, virtual classrooms, and digital collaboration tools.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and user support skills.
- Knowledge of instructional design and course development principles.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to create user guides, tutorials, and training materials.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with academic and administrative stakeholders.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and online learning best practices is an advantage.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support the University's Learning Management System (LMS) and related educational technology platforms.
- Provide technical support and guidance to faculty, students, and staff regarding LMS functionality and e-learning tools.
- Assist faculty members in developing, uploading, and managing online and blended course content.
- Conduct training workshops and orientation sessions on LMS usage and educational technologies.
- Develop user manuals, guides, and instructional materials to support effective use of e-learning systems.
- Monitor LMS performance and coordinate with the Information Technology Department to resolve technical issues.
- Support the implementation of innovative teaching and learning technologies across the University.
- Assist in the design and development of online learning resources and digital instructional materials.
- Monitor user engagement and generate reports related to LMS usage, course activity, and learning analytics.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation requirements, and best practices related to online learning.
- Support online examinations, assessments, surveys, and other academic activities conducted through the LMS.
- Evaluate emerging educational technologies and recommend solutions that enhance teaching and learning effectiveness.
- Collaborate with academic departments to promote technology-enhanced learning initiatives.
- Maintain documentation related to e-learning systems, processes, and user support activities.
- Participate in institutional projects and committees related to digital learning and educational technology.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Director or University management.
