Facilities and maintenance duties
- Manage equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and facility safety standards.
- Control heat, light, and power and recommend energy conservation measures.
- Develop service contract specifications and administer contracts.
- Assign preventive maintenance and repair work orders and monitor timeliness and quality.
- Oversee maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, restaurants, and recreational facilities.
- Plan preventive maintenance and asset protection and oversee execution.
- Develop renovation and construction plans and supervise contractors to meet budget and schedule expectations.
- Inspect facilities and determine necessary repairs, renovations, painting, or equipment and furnishing replacements.
- Maintain fire-fighting equipment, sprinklers, alarms, licenses, and life safety systems.
- Manage parts and equipment inventory and purchasing of supplies and furnishings.
- Prepare utility consumption reports and monitor calibration of utility recording instruments.
Hotel operations and team duties
- Build positive relationships with guests, suppliers, contractors, external authorities, and hotel departments.
- Ensure fire crews understand procedures, equipment, and alarms.
- Review guest satisfaction information and coordinate corrective action with property leadership.
- Update and follow up on annual maintenance contracts and negotiate in line with maintenance standards.
- Resolve department manpower disputes and interview and evaluate prospective department staff.
- Monitor employee attendance, uniforms, work performance, welfare, safety, and development.
- Assist with employee training and ensure staff understand hotel rules and fire, hygiene, and safety policies.
- Control departmental budgets, costs, material use, and energy wastage.
- Report abnormal life safety conditions to the General Manager and perform other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer and Hotel Manager.
Operational accountabilities
- Maintain assigned hotel engineering, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil works to specified standards.
- Deliver maintenance work within specified timeframes.
- Meet performance expectations for timely task delivery, maintenance records, complaint resolution, and cost control.
- Resolve guest complaints related to hotel maintenance in a timely manner.

External contacts include suppliers and contractors.
Internal contacts include the Hotel Manager, Chief Engineer, Purchasing Officer, engineering staff, and department heads.
