Job Summary
Are you passionate about empowering others and making a real difference in your community? As a Direct Support Professional , you’ll play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—both at home and in the community. You’ll provide person-centered care, encourage independence, and ensure safety and dignity in every interaction.
Duties
- Deliver hands-on support with daily living activities, personal care, and mobility
- Foster independence and community involvement for individuals with disabilities
- Implement and adapt individualized care plans and behavioral strategies (BSP)
- Ensure a safe, respectful environment that protects individual rights and well-being
- Support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other diverse needs
- Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Provide transportation and accompany individuals to medical, therapy, and community appointments
Skills
- Strong knowledge of behavioral support plans (BSPs) and home care practices
- Ability to assist individuals with mobility and personal care needs
- Proficient in goal tracking and implementing individualized support strategies
- Solid understanding of individual rights, person-centered advocacy, and HIPAA compliance
- Compassionate, reliable, and adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and access to your own reliable transportation.
- Prior experience as a DSP
- Client prefers male staff
- Must have own vehicle that is either all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive.
- Must be able to drive up a mountain in the winter.
