Drone Builder / Operator

• who wants to build, assemble, repair, test, troubleshoot, fly, and grow with us.
• This role is much more about the hands on building side of drones than simply operating them.
• We are looking for someone who understands drone components, enjoys working with physical systems, and is comfortable taking drones apart, putting them back together, solving problems, and supporting real field operations.
• At Distant Imagery, we design, build, modify, and operate our own aerial systems in house.
• Our drones support ecosystem restoration, monitoring, mapping, surveillance, environmental intelligence, infrastructure protection, and field delivery in challenging real world environments.
• You will work on:
• Building and assembling multicopter drones
• Supporting fixed-wing drone builds and modifications
• Installing and testing motors, ESCs, propellers, frames, wiring, payload mounts, flight controllers, batteries, and sensors
• Disassembling, repairing, and maintaining drone systems
• Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and flight-related issues
• Supporting pre-flight checks, post-flight checks, and field readiness
• Helping test new builds and modifications
• Flying drones for mapping, monitoring, videography, and field support when required
• Learning directly from a team that engineers, builds, and operates its own systems
• The right person will have:
• Practical experience building, repairing, or modifying drones, RC aircraft, robotics, or similar systems
• A good understanding of multicopter drone components
• Some experience with soldering, wiring, assembly, maintenance, or field repairs
• Experience operating multicopter drones in different conditions
• Basic knowledge of fixed-wing drones, or a strong interest in learning
• A calm and careful approach to troubleshooting
• Strong attention to detail
• A hands-on mindset and willingness to work in both workshop and field settings
• Genuine interest in drones, engineering, and real-world problem-solving
• This role would suit someone with some experience who is still early in their career and wants to grow inside a small, ambitious company.
