Role Description
The Director of Engineering is a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi, responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering and software development teams to deliver high-quality, scalable geospatial and digital twin solutions.
This role oversees the end-to-end engineering lifecycle, from architecture and technical design to implementation, integration, testing, and deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and client requirements.
The Director of Engineering will collaborate closely with product, operations, and data science teams to prioritize roadmaps, manage project portfolios, and drive efficient execution across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring and developing engineering managers and technical leads, establishing best practices and standards, managing budgets and resource allocation, and maintaining a strong focus on quality, security, and performance.
The role also involves engaging with key clients and partners, evaluating new technologies, and championing continuous improvement to keep GeoSoft-Surtech at the forefront of digital twin, AR/VR, and AI-enabled solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in Engineering Management and Team Leadership, including mentoring, performance management, and building high-performing, inclusive engineering teams.
- Strong background in Software Development, with hands-on experience in designing and delivering complex, scalable systems (experience with geospatial, 3D, or digital twin platforms is a plus).
- Demonstrated proficiency in Project Management, including roadmap planning, risk management, stakeholder communication, and on-time delivery of multi-team initiatives.
- Experience with Integration of systems and platforms, such as connecting engineering tools, data pipelines, and IT/OT environments into cohesive end-to-end solutions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience in geospatial technologies, 3D modeling, AR/VR, or AI/ML-driven applications is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and executives.
