Role and mission

The Director of Data, AI & Digital Intelligence reports to the Head of IT and leads the enterprise-wide data and AI capability.

The role aims to create a trusted, scalable, governed digital intelligence ecosystem for business functions including R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial operations, and finance.

Success includes technology delivery and improved decision-making, productivity, and innovation through data and AI.

Besins Healthcare is an international pharmaceutical company with approximately 1,800 employees and €800 million in revenue.

The company is undertaking an enterprise-wide transformation and aims to make data and AI core capabilities.

Leadership and operating model

  • Build and lead teams covering AI and data governance, architecture, and engineering; recruit and develop talent.
  • Define operating models, establish governance forums, manage strategic partners, and drive adoption across business functions.

Enterprise data foundation

  • Design governance for data ownership, stewardship, quality, lifecycle, policies, controls, metadata, and access.
  • Define enterprise data architecture and roadmap, including data models, master and reference data, information and metadata architecture, integration, and lifecycle.
  • Lead an enterprise lakehouse integrating ERP, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, commercial, scientific, and laboratory data for analytics and AI.
  • Establish a trusted single source of truth and a catalogue supporting data discovery, lineage, ownership, quality assessment, access requests, and certified data sharing.
  • Develop toward an enterprise data marketplace where reusable data products can be consumed across the organization.

Enterprise AI foundation

  • Establish AI governance for responsible and ethical AI, risk management, explainability, auditability, lifecycle management, model validation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Define and implement an enterprise AI platform strategy supporting LLMs, RAG, knowledge repositories, model and prompt management, AI monitoring, and security controls.
  • Define a reusable Agentic AI vision, architecture, and operating model for scientific, supply chain, commercial, and corporate productivity use cases.
  • Define and deliver an enterprise agent orchestrator architecture governing interactions between multiple AI agents.

Required experience

  • 12+ years of experience in Data, Analytics, AI, or Digital leadership roles.
  • Proven experience building enterprise-scale data capabilities and implementing data governance programs.
  • Experience with Agentic AI and scaling AI in large organizations.
  • Ability to engage with executive leadership, business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and external partners.

Preferred experience

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated industry is highly appreciated.

  • The role is based in Dubai, UAE.
