Job Details - Director Internal Audit & Compliance Reports To - Board of Directors Location - H.O (Dubai) No. of Direct Reports - 6 Education Required - CA/CFA/CPA Overall Scope of the Role - The Role involves overall responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation, managing and organisation of all the strategies, policies, and procedures related to Internal Audit and Compliance/Ethics including the overall assessment of internal controls and related risks within Group and giving professional independent opinions and recommendations to the Audit Committee, Board of Directors, Group CEO and audited departments on critical risk and compliance issues.

Functional Responsibilities- Internal Audit

  • Direct the execution of risk-based and concurrent audits of all functions and processes across the Group, including IT, Information Security and Business, and report findings to the Audit Committee whilst recommending areas of improvement to ensure adherence to defined quality standards / legislative requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to the Audit Committee on the financial, operational and IT/Information risks relevant to the Group and work with the Senior Management to create cost-effective controls for effective protection against risks.
  • Review the annual Internal Audit Plan ensuring alignment of all business units to promote achievement of The Groups business strategy and presentation to the Audit Committee.
  • Direct and oversee the provision of a professional auditing service and internal control risk assessment through implementation of audit plans and programs covering branch, head office, associates and subsidiaries, with quality up to industry standards, to identify areas of risk, assess the business internal control measures, and ensure adherence to the Groups policies and procedures, so that business operational efficiency is maximized.
  • Ensure that all reports of the internal audit are prepared timely and accurately and meet The Group s requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Facilitate special ad hoc assignments as directed by the Audit Committee/BODs or on own volition in order to investigate specific processes, situations or incidents including fraud.
  • Ensure that the team conducts regular follow up with the different departments / branches in order to have maximum adherence to the IT and business audit recommendations.
  • Oversee the actions undertaken by the departments / branches to address business audit report recommendations and ensure highlighting any issues related to the implementation of audit recommendations and follow up on their resolution.
  • Assist the Board in: Appointment, reappointment, and removal/replacement of External Auditors. Review and approval of Audited Financial Statements.
  • Lead and direct the continuous improvement of the internal audit systems, processes, and practices while taking into account international best practice, changes in international standards, and any changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.

Compliance

  • Lead the effective coordination of compliance activities at The Group with particular reference to regulatory compliance.
  • Set high level policies and standards on compliance issues for the Group and foster the development of a company-wide compliance culture.
  • Oversee the investigation of any malpractice, misconduct, or fraudulent activity or report in order to resolve them and recommend measures in line with the relevant internal policies, laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that Anti Money Laundering / Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML / CFT) screening is carried out for all Clients and Business Partners i.e. Vendors (KYC / KYBP)
  • Coordinate with HR for annual Compliance/AML/CFT Training for staff

Collaboration and People Management

  • Work closely with Senior Management Team and Country Heads and provide requisite support to them to ensure achievement of the Group s Vision and Business Objectives.
  • Liaison with Legal Counsel, Counterparties, Consultants, External Auditors and Regulators.
  • Represent the Group at events and press conferences as directed by the Board.
  • Motivate, mentor, coach, and develop department leaders and a strong second level for future succession planning.
