JOB TITLE Director, Health and Safety | MAF Properties | Head Office

Role Summary The role will take a key position within the Project Management Team and serve as an integral member of the Project Management Delivery Team. In addition, the role is expected to contribute to the development of the department’s portfolio-wide strategic initiatives. The role is primarily focused on Health and Safety leadership, requiring strong collaboration with wider project teams to ensure seamless integration of health and safety within project delivery.

ROLE PROFILE

• Champion Health and Safety strategic initiatives to support the development of best-practice processes, procedures, controls, and management systems across the department.
• Lead and manage team members’ corporate and project objectives, monitoring progress and providing guidance and mentorship.
• Identify, assess, and manage key Health and Safety risks across departmental operations, project development, and construction activities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with consultants, contractors, project managers, and key design firms.
• Enhance the department’s and organization’s knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety practices and standards.
• Maintain awareness of regional industry trends, legislative developments, and professional standards, ensuring best practices are embedded in project delivery.
• Develop and maintain Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures, forms, and guidelines aligned with international standards, including ISO 45001.
• Participate in or lead post-tender evaluations to assess compliance with Health and Safety requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in health and safety is a plus, Diploma in HSE from a recognized body, such as National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) or British Safety Council.
• 15+ years of construction work experience in Health and Safety Management.
• Proven experience in the implementation and management of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, including OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 frameworks.
• Strong capability in HSE auditing, compliance monitoring, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experienced in implementing and promoting Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs to strengthen safety culture and workforce engagement.
• Willingness to travel internationally or work outside the UAE when required to support project teams.
