Role overview

Implementation and delivery

• Deploy and manage scalable, secure, reliable cloud infrastructure using AWS, Azure, and GCP, and define infrastructure as code.
• Translate logical designs into physical designs and document work using required standards, methods, and tools.
• Implement automation, Docker, and Kubernetes to streamline application deployment and scaling.
• Build secure, highly available cloud networks and review environments for security-policy and industry-best-practice compliance.
• Improve disaster recovery, high availability, and site reliability for critical workloads.
• Manage on-premises and SaaS code repositories, including Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub, and Bitbucket.
• Create CI/CD automation to deploy, upgrade, and patch applications; promote applications through development, quality, staging, and production.
• Manage service availability and performance, and complete project deliverables within agreed timelines and quality standards.
• Prepare documentation and support transition of operational activities.

Collaboration and operations

• Collaborate with IT groups and the DevOps Architect on infrastructure baselines, tools, processes, automated releases, testing, deployments, and operational metrics.
• Work with developers to deploy, monitor, and support applications in an automated and scalable way.
• Advise on change management and execute changes safely to minimize risk and interruption.
• Streamline DevOps processes, optimize cloud costs and resource use, and estimate costs for planned workloads.
• Participate in cloud incident response and troubleshoot computing, storage, networking, software, and cloud-service issues.
• Support workload scaling, migration, and decommissioning; identify process improvements and automate repetitive work.
• Create and manage release pipelines, establish change policies and standards, and report performance against KPIs.

Education and certification

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• AWS cloud technologies certification is mandatory.
• GCP or Azure certification and Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification are good to have.

Experience and technical knowledge

• 4–5 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure architecture, administration, and monitoring.
• In-depth hands-on AWS experience and proven experience as a DevOps engineer.
• Strong understanding of networking, cloud, compute, storage, cloud governance, application security, and risk management.
• Experience with inter-cloud migration and scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Advanced experience with Git version-control technologies and infrastructure best practices for frontend and backend systems.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues from system resources to application stack traces.
• Knowledge areas include GCP or Azure, CI tools, provisioning automation, infrastructure-as-code tools, containers, identity and access management, and system security.

Additional technical experience
