Development Lead - Application Development

Role overview

Delivery and technical leadership

• Lead sprint commitments and execution, managing scope, dependencies, trade-offs, and delivery outcomes.
• Break complex requirements into technical tasks, anticipate risks, and guide implementation and validation.
• Define technical approaches, design patterns, integration strategies, and implementation standards; escalate decisions outside approved guardrails.
• Partner with Product Owners, QA, Designers, and Scrum Masters to ensure clarity, feasibility, testability, and timely decisions.

Engineering quality and operations

• Prepare production releases with tests, security and performance checks, runbooks, operational documentation, observability, and rollback plans.
• Uphold coding, testing, documentation, security, observability, and responsible AI standards; review code, including AI-generated code.
• Own unit testing strategy, test automation, and AI evaluation coverage; enhance CI/CD, build automation, and AI-assisted workflows.
• Lead production issue triage, investigation, mitigation, restoration, and root cause analysis; translate learnings into corrective actions and backlog items.
• Maintain technical and prompt documentation and monitor delivery and quality metrics to drive improvement.

Software development and team support

• Design, develop, modify, integrate, maintain, and troubleshoot software applications and services; write, review, test, debug, and correct code.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership, pairing, feedback, coaching, and guidance to the pod.

Requirements

• Provide senior, hands-on technical leadership within an Agile delivery pod.
• Lead technical solution design and make implementation decisions within approved architectural guardrails.
• Uphold engineering standards for coding, testing, documentation, security, and observability.
• Own unit testing strategy, test automation, and AI evaluation coverage.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to pod members.
