Development Coach

Overview

Key responsibilities

• Coaching and Development
• + Deliver and plan sessions for Foundation, Development, and Potential Squads, as directed by the Operations Manager.
• + Deliver technique-focused, skill-enhancing sessions aligned with the Hamilton Aquatics philosophy.
• + Track swimmer attendance, set individual targets, and ensure training evolves to meet their progress.
• + Promote participation in competitions, advise on event selection, and attend competitions locally and overseas as needed.
• + Recruit swimmers into the squads and talent-identify athletes from our Learn to Swim program to ensure full squads and a high-quality pipeline.
• Communication and Teamwork
• + Maintain proactive communication with swimmers, parents, and staff.
• + Handle inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating where necessary.
• + Report to the Operations Manager daily, attend weekly coach meetings, and lead area meetings with documentation.

Quality Assurance and Safety

• + Adhere to all child protection policies, Hamilton Aquatics' code of conduct, and health and safety protocols.
• + Manage site responsibilities, including pool safety checks and first aid as necessary.

Administration Duties

• + Complete necessary administration tasks, including booking and competition entries.
• + Ensure swimmer attendance and progression records are up to date.
• + Support the Operations Manager with new recruit inductions.

Community Engagement

• + Represent Hamilton Aquatics professionally at competitions, galas, and events.
• + Organise and deliver clinics with local schools to build relationships and raise swimming levels.
• + Lead school training sessions and assist schools in inter-school competitions.

• Desired qualifications and experience
• + UKCC Level 2 Coaching in Aquatics *(or equivalent)*.
• + Lifeguard Qualification *(or willingness to obtain upon hire)*.
• + Experience in coaching young swimmers, particularly at the Learn to Train and Train to Train stages.
• + Proven track record in developing age-group swimmers and ensuring smooth squad transitions.
• + Strong communication and leadership skills.
• + Knowledge of swim stroke mechanics and training methodologies.
• + Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• + Proficiency in IT and video analysis tools.
