Role summary:
Responsible for design, estimation, and technical proposal preparation for lighting control systems, guest room management systems (GRMS) and building automation projects.
Works with project teams to deliver accurate, cost-effective designs and timely proposals while supporting value engineering and ensuring smooth coordination with site execution teams.
Key responsibilities
- Produce detailed designs and schematic drawings for lighting control systems, GRMS and related automation systems.
- Prepare accurate bill of materials (BOM), equipment schedules, cable schedules and cost estimates for bids and projects.
- Develop technical proposals and tender submissions within assigned timelines; ensure compliance with client specifications and applicable codes.
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimize system performance, reliability and cost.
- Coordinate with site teams, contractors and subcontractors to resolve design queries, implement site feedback and support installation and commissioning activities.
- Review and comment on contractor drawings, submittals and vendor datasheets.
- Perform system integration checks and ensure compatibility between lighting control, GRMS and building automation platforms.
- Keep updated documentation: drawings, BOQs, RFI logs, change requests and handover packages.
- Provide technical clarifications to clients and attend coordination meetings as required.
- Assist project managers with scope reviews, progress tracking and technical risk assessments.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
- 1–3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with exposure to lighting control systems, GRMS and building automation projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for preparation and modification of electrical and schematic drawings.
- Strong understanding of lighting control hardware, protocols (e.g., DALI, KNX, DMX, BACnet, and Modbus) and system architecture.
- Basic knowledge of electrical design standards, earthing, protection and cable routing.
- Self-motivated, detail-orientated and able to manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills; comfortable preparing technical proposals and presenting to clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively with site teams and external vendors.
Desirable (nice-to-have)
- Experience with lighting control software, simulation tools or BIM workflows.
- Prior experience in hospitality GRMS systems and hotel projects.
- Certifications in AutoCAD, electrical design, or building automation systems.
