Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Account for and reconcile all derivatives transactions, including swaps, futures, options, and forwards, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations related to derivative positions.
• Monitor and analyze the performance of derivatives positions, providing insights into potential risks and rewards.
• Collaborate with risk management and trading teams to ensure proper documentation and execution of derivative trades.
• Prepare financial reports related to derivatives, including P&L analysis, mark-to-market valuations, and hedge accounting reports.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards in relation to derivatives accounting.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, ensuring proper presentation of derivatives and hedging activities.
• Support the audit process by providing accurate and timely information regarding derivatives transactions and positions.
• Participate in the development and implementation of accounting procedures for new financial products and derivatives.
• Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations (IFRS, GAAP) and market practices concerning derivatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting for derivatives or financial instruments in a banking, asset management, or financial services firm.
• In-depth knowledge of derivatives accounting, financial instruments, and related risk management practices.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
• Experience with financial software and trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, and ERP systems).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, financial modeling, and advanced formulas).
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to handle complex financial data.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
