Job description

About Lucidya

Lucidya is an AI-native Customer Experience Intelligence platform. As the platform expands, maintaining a reliable, secure, and high-performing data infrastructure is essential. Our database environment spans multiple cloud platforms and hosting environments, supporting business-critical workloads, high-volume data ingestion, and multi-tenant applications.

The Role of Database Administrator

Lucidya is seeking a Database Administrator to enhance database operations, improve resilience, and ensure data infrastructure reliability as the company scales. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves managing production PostgreSQL and MySQL environments across AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and in-Kingdom hosting. The Database Administrator will be responsible for the health and operational reliability of production databases, addressing challenges such as multi-terabyte environments, high-availability architecture, disaster recovery, major-version upgrades, and safe database migrations. Collaboration with engineering, cloud, and reliability teams is integral to this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL databases across AWS, GCP, and self-managed environments.
  • Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Optimize queries, indexing, and database resource utilization.
  • Manage backups, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Implement database replication, high availability, and failover strategies.
  • Plan database upgrades, migrations, and safe schema changes.
  • Maintain database security, access controls, and auditing.
  • Automate database operations using Bash, Python, or similar tools.
  • Troubleshoot database incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, SRE, and Cloud teams to improve database reliability and scalability.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience as a Database Administrator and demonstrate an understanding of preventing data loss, diagnosing complex performance issues, planning high-risk changes, and building reliable systems under pressure. The ability to manage large, business-critical databases and balance operational stability with architectural improvement, automation, and scalability is essential.
  • Technical Skills: 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience in production; experience with AWS Aurora, Amazon RDS, MySQL, and self-managed Linux databases; understanding of database performance tuning, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery; experience managing multi-terabyte databases, upgrades, and migrations; ability to automate database operations using Bash or Python.
  • Database Resilience: Hands-on experience with backups, recovery, replication, and failover; ability to troubleshoot database incidents and minimize downtime; adherence to safe change-management practices and maintenance of rollback plans.
  • Database Performance: Ability to troubleshoot slow queries, indexing, locking, and resource utilization; understanding of PostgreSQL internals and multi-tenant database challenges.
  • Desired Attributes
  • Takes ownership and maintains composure under pressure.
  • Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively with engineering teams.
  • Documents work and continuously improves database reliability.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Non-Essential)
  • Experience with multi-tenant database architectures, particularly schema-per-tenant environments with thousands of schemas.
  • Experience managing databases larger than several terabytes with high write volumes and demanding availability requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL tooling such as Patroni, pgBackRest, or WAL-G.
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations or moving customer workloads to in-Kingdom hosting environments.
  • Familiarity with database observability, capacity planning, and per-customer database usage or cost allocation.
  • Experience working in SaaS, data-platform, fintech, banking, or telecommunications environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and automated database provisioning.
  • Relevant certifications, such as EDB PostgreSQL or AWS certifications.
  • Saudi nationals only
