Data Tech Lead Middle East

Role purpose

Data technology and service delivery

• Lead design, delivery, and continuous improvement of regional data platforms and solutions.
• Translate business, regulatory, and data requirements into secure, scalable, sustainable technology solutions.
• Lead across data engineering, integration, data quality, metadata, lineage, and analytics capabilities.
• Apply architecture standards, security controls, data governance, regulatory requirements, and consistent engineering practices.
• Maintain stable production services through incident, problem, and change management.

Governance, risk, and estate optimization

• Explain architecture, data flows, controls, lineage, storage, access, and operations to regulators and assurance teams.
• Keep audit-ready documentation and evidence for ownership, controls, resilience, and remediation; manage portfolio risks, dependencies, issues, and commitments.
• Optimize vendors and the IT estate, reduce duplication, and transition legacy or tactical services to strategic platforms.
• Keep the MENAT estate aligned with Group strategy and contribute to broader technology modernization and shared practices.

Leadership and stakeholders

• Report to the Head of AME Data Technology and contribute to the MENAT CIO Leadership Team.
• Work with local business, technology, risk, compliance, data, and operations stakeholders; align regional delivery with local needs, regulation, and Group priorities.
• Contribute to regional and Group data strategy, standards, governance forums, and communities of practice.
• Build trusted relationships, influence senior stakeholders, and coach technical colleagues.

Required experience and skills

• Significant leadership experience delivering data technology in complex, regulated financial services.
• Experience engaging regulators, auditors, or supervisory authorities; MENAT experience is ideal.
• Strong knowledge of data platforms, engineering, integration, governance, lineage, and quality.
• Understanding of regulation covering data management, privacy, resilience, outsourcing, and technology risk.
• Experience managing regulatory commitments, remediation plans, evidence packs, and governance reporting.
• Experience in vendor management, technology rationalization, and IT estate modernization.
• Clear communication of architecture and controls, strong stakeholder and decision-making skills, and experience across countries with differing regulatory requirements.
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience; technology, data, or risk certifications are desirable.
