Position overview
The Data Scientist will build and advance data-science capability to understand homelessness, system dynamics, and outcomes.
The role uses person-level and system-level data from the Homeless Management Information System and broader data environment.
Accountability and analytical work
- Lead advanced analysis using longitudinal administrative data, including statistical modeling, forecasting, segmentation, and machine learning.
- Study pathways into and out of homelessness, service use, housing outcomes, system movement, population needs, and capacity pressures.
- Develop analyses to anticipate needs, assess outcomes, and examine effects of program, investment, and system changes.
- Work with analysts, developers, system-planning colleagues, and teams to produce rigorous, reproducible analysis.
- Inform system planning, program design, resource allocation, and strategic decisions.
- Help establish sound model development, validation, and responsible-use practices.
