The Data Science Manager is a technical management role providing technical and organizational leadership for data science products.
The Care Transformation and Innovation team integrates digital and AI technologies into care.
The role aligns data science initiatives and budgets with strategy, product roadmaps, and business requirements.
What you will do
- Lead data science products from research, strategy, and design through implementation, documentation, deployment, and monitoring; own team-level product-module and agile-delivery OKRs.
- Standardize enterprise tooling and processes for production-grade products, maintainable code, automated testing, CI/CD, and developer experience in code-centric and low-code environments.
- Review code and uphold Responsible AI practices, model interpretability and explainability, and model KPIs.
- Manage, mentor, and coordinate data scientists, product managers, analysts, and vendors or contractors; develop full-stack team capabilities.
- Guide AI service design and performance and explain data science methods and results to business and IT stakeholders.
- Help develop the data science strategy and roadmap with senior leadership and keep current on healthcare and AI trends.
- Align goals with management and stakeholders, prioritize end-user needs, and develop and track data product OKRs.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- 4+ years of data science and machine learning experience with progressive responsibility, particularly in predictive modeling, optimization, and/or operations research.
- Expert SQL and Python experience.
- Experience with structured and unstructured data, relational and non-relational databases, data processing and ETL, visualization, and monitoring tools.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, cloud deployments in GCP or another cloud platform, and Agile development methods and tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration across teams and stakeholders; proven ability to motivate, mentor, and manage multidisciplinary data science and engineering teams.
- Ability to communicate data insights that drive action and demonstrate decisive, empathetic leadership in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications
- A master’s or PhD degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- Healthcare domain knowledge and experience are preferred.
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects are preferred.
- Agile Delivery, Product Management, or Scrum Master certification is preferred.
