Data & Reporting Specialist

Essential Responsibilities

• Collaborates with departments to identify data needs
• Develops advanced reports and queries for various departments
• Acts as technical resource for data analysis
• Oversees the flow of data in and out of various databases and systems
• Serves as a data expert for Jenzabar One ERP
• Provides technical support for administrative software and applications that integrate with university databases
• Trains end-users on accessing reporting and analytics solutions.
• Manages campus analytics software
• Maintains documentation of reports and data-related customizations
• Advises in the planning of future data-related initiatives
• Collaborates in defining policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and security
• Participates in professional development initiatives to stay current in the area
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience: Three years' experience with database systems, query languages, and report writing for enterprise administrative software, preferably in an academic environment. Experience supporting ERP software and an understanding of business processes.
• Education: Bachelor's degree or comparable experience.
• Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Must work collaboratively in a team setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Other Skills: Must have a strong understanding of SQL and experience working with report writing software and Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases. Experience with Jenzabar One, SQL Server Management Studio, Appeon InfoMaker, Power BI, and Cognos Analytics is desirable. Strong understanding of higher-education business practices is a plus. Must have strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Customer service and organizational skills are imperative. Exhibits initiative and a willingness to learn; able to quickly grasp and master new skills. Well-organized, able to manage projects, resources, and information, and able to function independently within established job responsibilities and parameters. High regard for and adherence to security policy and procedures. Must embody Christian character and be able to build relationships across the university.
