Company and data products

Database USA provides databases of US businesses, consumers, emails, and life events for marketing, research, and customer technology products.

Role overview

Own the quality, coverage, and growth of the company's databases by inspecting data and planning valuable improvements and additions.

This is a data-product role focused on the data itself, not reporting or dashboard development.

Duties

  • Analyze data files to measure database accuracy, completeness, and coverage.
  • Find missing fields, outdated records, errors, coverage gaps, and potential new attributes customers would value.
  • Plan and prioritize database improvements and additions and maintain an implementation roadmap.
  • Evaluate potential data sources and recommend which to add, how to integrate them, and their expected contribution.
  • Set data standards, field definitions, and quality benchmarks and monitor progress.
  • Partner with IT specialists on data projects from specification through testing and release.
  • Gather customer and internal-team input about data use and improvement opportunities.
  • Use factual evidence to make decisions and present clear recommendations to management.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the business and/or consumer data industry.
  • Experience improving, maintaining, or expanding a database or data product, not only reporting on one.
  • Understanding of postal addressing rules.
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel and MySQL.
  • Understanding of practical statistics for evaluating data quality, coverage, and accuracy.
  • Attention to detail; ability to identify trends, determine data validity, and turn findings into practical action.
  • Two-year college degree required; four-year degree preferred.

Additional experience and attributes

  • Experience with data compilation, sourcing, matching, deduplication, or data hygiene processes such as NCOA or CASS is a plus.
  • Ability to learn quickly is critical.
  • The role may involve customer interaction and requires professional representation of the company.

Application request

  • Include a brief example of a dataset you improved or expanded, describing the issue, the changes made, and the result.
