Role Summary

The Data Governance Officer is responsible for executing and monitoring data governance policies across the bank to ensure data quality, integrity, and regulatory compliance.

This role acts as a central coordination point for governance activities, supporting data stewards and business units while ensuring alignment with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) regulations and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and monitor adherence to data governance policies, standards, and procedures across the organization
  • Align data governance practices with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and other regulatory requirements
  • Monitor data quality using automated tools and track key data quality metrics
  • Log data quality issues, coordinate root cause analysis, and track remediation with data owners and custodians
  • Maintain and validate end-to-end data lineage across systems and reporting layers
  • Manage and update enterprise data dictionary, business glossary, and metadata repositories
  • Support Data Stewards in governance activities and act as a key point of contact across business units
  • Prepare and distribute data quality scorecards and governance dashboards to management
  • Support enhancements to data governance tools, including user acceptance testing (UAT) and implementation
  • Validate data governance and data quality requirements during system or application deployments
  • Conduct awareness sessions and training to promote data governance practices across the bank
  • Prepare documentation, logs, and evidence required for internal and external audits

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data management or data-related roles
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in data governance within banking or financial services
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and regulatory requirements
  • Good understanding of data flows, data lineage, and data lifecycle
  • Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, and data quality tools
  • Proven experience in tracking data issues, coordinating remediation, and supporting governance processes
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills across business and IT teams
  • Experience supporting audits and compliance activities is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Data governance certifications (e.g., CDMP, DCAM) are preferred
