  • Track governance adoption, data quality, and control effectiveness to drive improvement.

Data platform and self-service

  • Embed governance into data platforms, products, and delivery processes with platform, product, engineering, and architecture teams.
  • Develop practical standards for data access, classification, metadata, lineage, retention, and usage.
  • Support safe self-service using scalable controls and reusable governance practices.
  • Lead adoption of governance tools, including data catalogues and data quality solutions.

Leadership and influence

  • Manage and develop the data governance team, fostering high performance and collaboration.
  • Build a community of data owners and stewards through guidance and training.

  • Represent governance in data and AI initiatives and ensure risks are identified and managed early.
  • Manage specialist suppliers when required and build sustainable internal capability.

Essential criteria

  • Experience in line management and developing a team.
  • Strong command of data ownership and stewardship, metadata, lineage, data quality, data risk, and policy development.
  • Experience embedding governance into modern data platforms, data products, or self-service analytics with engineering, architecture, and product teams.
  • Experience implementing or effectively using data catalogues, metadata platforms, lineage tools, or data quality technology.
  • Practical understanding of the effect of privacy, security, legal, and regulatory obligations on data collection and use.
  • Experience working effectively with stakeholders.

Salary and contract

  • Permanent contract.
  • Proposed salary is £70,000 to £80,000, dependent on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience, plus London Weighting Allowance of £5,441 and 15% bonus OTE.
